Vodafone Fiji Pte Limited has proudly announced its recent achievement of the Digital Initiative of the Year – Fiji award at the Asian Telecom Awards 2025, held in Singapore. This honor highlights Vodafone Fiji’s dedication to transforming the local business environment through its innovative online marketplace, VitiKart.
VitiKart has become an essential resource for small businesses, offering a platform that facilitates online sales without requiring heavy investment in technology. The platform’s growth is closely tied to its seamless integration with M-PAiSA, Vodafone Fiji’s mobile digital wallet. This financial tool has been significant, processing an impressive $50 million in remittances in December last year, which increased to $62.8 million in August 2024. Currently, M-PAiSA represents over 52% of the total inward remittances to Fiji, solidifying its role in supporting local trade.
Vodafone Fiji noted that the integration of VitiKart with M-PAiSA has enhanced customer satisfaction while enabling new revenue sources and fostering business development across the nation. In collaboration with the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Vodafone Fiji also provides subsidies to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to effectively leverage VitiKart, unlocking significant e-commerce opportunities.
Looking ahead, VitiKart plans to roll out new features designed to enhance the shopping experience further. Among these are international shipping options, which will allow local sellers to tap into global markets, AI-driven product recommendations for easier navigation, and augmented reality experiences to help customers visualize products in their environments prior to purchase.
The continual improvements to VitiKart and its partnership with M-PAiSA demonstrate a positive shift towards empowering local businesses and promoting greater financial inclusion within Fiji. These initiatives position Vodafone Fiji as a leader in digital innovation, promising a brighter and more interconnected future for both local entrepreneurs and consumers.
In the broader context, these advancements not only highlight past successes but also represent a hopeful stride toward economic empowerment and sustainable development in the region.
