The Loloma Heights under-21 team is embracing themes of optimism and unity as they strive to leave their mark at the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s held in Taveuni. Comprising young players from the Urata area on the outskirts of Savusavu, the team launched their tournament campaign with a mixture of success and challenges.

In their opener, Loloma Heights secured a convincing 12-0 victory against the Varon Golden Eagles. However, they faced a setback in their second pool match, suffering a 0-26 defeat to Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1. Despite the mixed results, team manager Viliame Rasekaseka conveyed a strong sense of commitment and preparation among the players.

Rasekaseka noted that the players had recently competed in a 15s tournament, leading to a high level of fitness and readiness for the 7s format. “We are now in Taveuni and our preparations proceeded smoothly from last week,” he said, highlighting the team’s dedication to refining their skills.

With three days of competition ahead, Rasekaseka expressed hope for a strong finish in the tournament. His gratitude extended to the sponsors and families who have supported the team throughout their journey. Loloma Heights is grouped in Pool 3 with formidable opponents including Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1, Village Boys, and Varon Golden Eagle. As they gear up for their final pool match against the Village Boys, the team remains focused on delivering their best performance and concluding the tournament on a positive note.
