The United Kingdom has unveiled a new global initiative focused on combating violence against women, a pervasive issue affecting nations around the world, including those in the Pacific region. Announced by the UK Foreign Secretary in December of the previous year, the initiative, titled “All In,” seeks to galvanize international action in response to this urgent global challenge.

Kanbar Hossein-Bor, a representative from the British High Commission, emphasized the seriousness of the issue, noting that it has been declared a national emergency in the UK. He expressed concern that women in the Pacific are also enduring significant levels of violence. “That’s a global problem. We in the UK suffer from it, a national emergency has been declared, but also here in the Pacific, women are suffering from it,” he stated.

The “All In” initiative will facilitate the establishment of a prominent panel aimed at formulating essential initiatives and policies designed to eradicate violence against women. This collaborative effort aims to unite countries to exchange ideas and enhance collective actions, ensuring the safety and protection of women and girls globally. The initiative represents a hopeful step forward in the fight against gender-based violence, fostering unity and proactive solutions on an international scale.
