Police have recovered the body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in the Rewa River near Waidra, Baulevu, yesterday. The body was found this morning.

Divisional Police Commander Eastern, Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, reported that the boy was swimming when the tragic incident occurred yesterday afternoon.

Cakacaka urged parents to supervise their children closely at all times. He emphasized the importance of vigilance as the cyclone season approaches and school holidays are imminent.

Additionally, the Fiji Police Force expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their efforts in the search for the young boy’s body.
