Forty-five students from The University of the South Pacific (USP) were sworn in as legal practitioners during an impressive admission ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, Fiji. In the presence of family and friends, these newly minted lawyers pledged to uphold the professional standards and ethical responsibilities before the Honourable Chief Justice, Justice Salesi Temo.

The graduates completed their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Professional Diploma in Legal Practice (PDLP) with USP’s School of Law and Social Sciences, qualifications that are highly recognized across the Pacific region. Chief Justice Temo emphasized the gravity of their new roles, encouraging them to persist in lifelong learning and maintain high ethical standards essential for the integrity of the profession.

Among the newly admitted lawyers, Kenneth Dauloloma expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support of loved ones and the guidance provided by USP. Nandita Natasha Naidu shared her excitement about joining Munro Leys’ litigation team, while appreciating the support she received during her challenging journey to complete her PDLP. Similarly, Taupule Polenia Teleke Apelu and Lilipeti Suiti Faave from Tuvalu acknowledged the support of their mentors and families.

The ceremony not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted the significant role of USP’s School of Law in shaping the legal landscape across the Pacific. The institution emphasizes bridging academic study with real-world practice, equipping graduates with necessary advocacy, ethical, and courtroom skills.

These stories of perseverance and community support echo throughout Fiji’s legal community, as exemplified in previous ceremonies officiated by Chief Justice Salesi Temo. These narratives underscore a shared journey of resilience, encouraging future graduates to continue pursuing their dreams with integrity and diligence. Through these dedicated efforts, a culture of professionalism and community service is consistently nurtured, contributing positively to the administration of justice in Fiji and beyond.
