Suva FC’s head coach, Babs Khan, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance after they secured a 1-1 draw against Ba FC in their National Premier League opener at HFC Bank Stadium. The match, marked by intense competition, saw Suva take an early lead in the 35th minute when Merrill Nand scored, only for Ba’s France Catarogo to equalize shortly before halftime through a penalty.

Reflecting on the match, Khan noted that while the team displayed promise, they still need to improve their scoring ability. He mentioned that they have plans to bolster their squad, with three new players set to join in the coming week. “We still lack in scoring but we have new players coming to complete our squad,” Khan said.

Khan also pointed out areas of vulnerability that Ba could have exploited, indicating the need for further development within the team. With the squad still in the process of gelling, Khan is confident that as players integrate and find their rhythm, the team’s overall performance will improve.

Looking ahead, Suva FC will face Nadi this week, and Khan is optimistic about building on the foundation laid in their opening match. The anticipation surrounding the upcoming fixtures reflects the competitive spirit of the National Premier League and the dedication of both coaches and players to enhance their teams.

As the league progresses, fans have every reason to remain hopeful for Suva’s performance, especially given their past successes, including a stunning 5-0 victory over Tailevu Naitasiri last season. This positive trajectory fuels optimism for the future as both Suva and their rivals continue to battle for supremacy in Fiji’s vibrant football scene.
