Two of the three individuals accused of breaking into the Alison Supermarket at Laucala Beach on Monday are scheduled to appear in the High Court in Suva next Friday. Leone Lesumailepanoni, aged 43, and Sosiveta Raura, aged 51, faced Magistrate Charles Ratakele yesterday, where they were charged with four counts of robbery each.
The allegations suggest that the two men, along with a third accomplice, entered the supermarket armed with cane knives and threatened the cashier to relinquish cash from the till. Notably, the third suspect was released by police following the investigation.
Magistrate Ratakele has ordered that both Lesumailepanoni and Raura remain in custody until their court hearing.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of crime in the area, but it also underscores the commitment of law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice, contributing to community safety in the long run. As the legal process unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and collective action in keeping neighborhoods safe.
