“Speedster Kolora Lomani Eyes Exciting Rugby Future”

Speedster Kolora Lomani is eager to sign a 7s contract if given the chance. Lomani, who played as scrumhalf for the Brumbies in this season’s Super W competition, was part of the Fijiana 7s team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

She joined the team just a month before the Olympics in Madrid, providing much-needed speed after wingers Younis Bese and Heleina Young suffered injuries.

The former Fijiana Drua player, who won the Super W title in its first season, said the 7s experience at the Olympics was unforgettable. Despite disappointing results, she appreciated the environment, support, and overall experience.

With this experience behind her, Lomani is considering her future plans. “I’m not too sure, I guess I’ll have time off rugby. I’ve been engaged in rugby since last year until now. If this opportunity comes again, I will definitely grab it with a 7s contract, but I’ve got plans overseas with 15s Super W next year. Every opportunity counts and whatever comes my way, I will grab it with both hands,” she said.

The 25-year-old expressed her honor in representing her home country in 7s, especially coming from a 15s background. “This is probably one of the greatest experiences for me and one that I won’t forget. Even though we did not get the result that we wanted, building up to this tournament has been great, being among the girls and having support not just within the team but also in France and at home. My family has been watching from Australia.”

“This is my first Olympics and becoming an Olympian means so much to me and my family. Representing my country in one of the biggest games in the world has been an incredible journey with the girls,” she said.

Lomani, originally from Kadavu, lives and plays in Australia.
