Two sisters, Adi Nunia Talatoka and Makelesi Tikomainavualiku Kautoga, recently made headlines by earning their Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Medicine from Fiji National University. Their graduation, which took place at the Fiji Vodafone Arena, is a significant milestone not only for them but for their entire family.

The sisters attribute their success to the sacrifices made by their parents and the guidance of God. Adi Nunia, the elder sister, completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in China, while Makelesi graduated with her MBBS from FNU in 2015. They described their academic journey as challenging, with Makelesi noting the difficulty of balancing work and studies but expressing gratitude for the wisdom they received throughout their education.

As the first in their extended family to attain such qualifications, the sisters hope to inspire others to pursue education in various fields. Both are currently practicing at Aspen Medical in Lautoka, motivated by their dedication to providing quality patient care. Makelesi emphasized the need for healthcare providers to be both knowledgeable and compassionate.

Adi Nunia shared that her son serves as her greatest motivation, as she strives to be a role model and inspiration for him. She reflected on her parents’ struggles to support their family, emphasizing her desire to set a high standard for her son’s future.

The sisters expressed appreciation for the mentorship they received from senior healthcare professionals and highlighted the importance of perseverance in their academic pursuits. They believe that with determination and faith, anything is achievable, reinforcing the notion that hard work and dedication can lead to remarkable outcomes.

This inspiring story highlights the power of education and hard work, serving as a beacon of hope for others striving to achieve their dreams. With their achievements, Adi Nunia and Makelesi not only uplift their family but also set the stage for future generations to follow in their footsteps.
