Safety Alert: LTA Cracks Down on Dangerous Vehicle Behavior During Coca-Cola Games

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has issued a stern warning regarding safety protocols for passengers during the ongoing 2025 Coca-Cola Games. CEO Irimaia Rokosawa highlighted the significant dangers posed by actions such as waving school flags from moving vehicles or rocking the vehicle, which can jeopardize passenger safety and public wellbeing.

In light of recent events, including rising concerns about unruly passenger behavior, Rokosawa urged all drivers of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and private vehicles to exercise caution and report any incidents of disruptive behavior to nearby police checkpoints or stations. Emphasizing the importance of safety, he reminded students and supporters to refrain from unsafe actions while traveling in vehicles.

The LTA is ramping up enforcement efforts through joint surveillance teams that will monitor the activities of students, supporters, and the general public, ensuring compliance with traffic laws during this busy period. This move is in response to recent trends indicating a worrying increase in road incidents involving children, particularly during events like the Coca-Cola Games.

Similar previous efforts were enacted post a serious accident in Navuniasi, where 13 students were injured, highlighting the LTA’s proactive approach to ensuring road safety. The focus remains on enforcing strict adherence to traffic regulations and elevating public awareness about the critical responsibility of maintaining high safety standards on the roads.

By addressing these behavioral concerns, the LTA and community stakeholders aim to foster a culture of responsibility and mindfulness, creating a safer environment for all road users during this festive event. Through collective efforts and increased awareness, there is a hopeful outlook for safer transportation experiences during the games and beyond.
