The Nasinu Netball Association has kicked off its club competition for the season, showcasing a significant rise in competition levels as round one commenced at the multi-purpose court in Suva. President Mere Rauluni has noted a marked improvement in the teams’ performances, expressing excitement about the increasing enthusiasm from both players and supporters.
“The competition this year is becoming tougher, and we are thrilled to have all the teams actively participating,” said Rauluni. The tournament witnessed impressive attendance, reflecting a growing interest in netball among players of all ages.
With a total of 12 clubs and 36 teams participating, the association caters to a diverse range of age categories. This includes the roses grade for children ages 6-9, the princess grade for ages 10-13, and senior grades for those aged 14-17 years. Additionally, a new Masters grade has been introduced for players aged 40 and above, further enriching the competition landscape.
The Nasinu Netball Association is primarily focused on resource enhancement and player development, particularly among youth, with aspirations for these young talents to eventually represent their country as part of the Fiji Pearls team. Rauluni expressed gratitude to the committee, umpires, teams, and supporters for their dedication to the organization.
Similar sentiments were echoed in recent articles concerning the Suva Netball Association, which has seen an increase in competition levels as well, with new clubs and grades introduced to cater to younger players. These developments not only foster a more robust competitive environment but also nurture the spirit of netball in the region, signaling a hopeful future for aspiring athletes.
The enthusiasm and participation from clubs highlight a bright trajectory for netball in Fiji, promising substantial growth and opportunities for young players to excel in the sport.
