Police officials have raised alarms over a noticeable rise in missing persons reports in recent weeks, calling on the public to take more responsibility in keeping their loved ones informed about their whereabouts.

While detailed comparative statistics are still being gathered, authorities indicated that these reports are inducing significant distress among families and straining law enforcement resources. Police spokesperson Wame Bautolu highlighted that a majority of these cases are not the result of criminal activity but are often due to inadequate communication among family members and within communities.

Bautolu stated, “People have a habit of going places without informing their loved ones,” emphasizing that this trend is concerning. He urged the public to engage in simple, proactive communication, which can help avert unnecessary alarm and enable law enforcement to concentrate on real emergencies.

Encouraging open lines of communication not only fosters safety but also keeps families connected, highlighting the importance of staying in touch in today’s fast-paced world.
