Since October 16, 2023, Pacific Polytech has celebrated the graduation of over 2,000 students, who have successfully earned national and micro qualifications at its Fijian campuses. The milestone was marked in a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, where founding director Perri Taoi shared the impressive statistics.

Among the graduates, 1,574 received micro qualifications, while 878 were awarded national qualifications. Furthermore, a third cohort of 700 students is expected to graduate in early 2024, reflecting the institution’s ongoing commitment to education and workforce development.

Director Taoi emphasized the importance of providing high-quality, competency-based training aimed at making graduates job-ready and forward-thinking. He noted that Pacific Polytech is actively developing new programs in essential sectors such as business, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), hospitality, life skills, healthcare, and engineering.

In his address, Taoi articulated the institution’s mission to empower youth, helping them navigate societal challenges, including substance abuse, by equipping them with practical skills and meaningful opportunities. He said, “Our goal is to be a beacon of hope, offering young people a chance to build their lives with dignity, purpose, and ambition. When you train a person with a skill, you give them not just a job but a future.”

The ceremony’s chief guest, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, encouraged graduates with a motivational message centered on perseverance and self-determination. He highlighted that true excellence is achieved through hard work and the effective use of both opportunities and challenges. The minister also recognized the leadership and vision that led to the establishment of Pacific Polytech in 2021.

This graduation ceremony signifies a positive step towards empowering the youth of Fiji, providing them with the education necessary for a brighter future. With ongoing developments in various sectors, Pacific Polytech is poised to create even more opportunities for its students, fostering resilience and ambition in the community.
