The Navua Football Association is grieving the death of former player Sikeli Nawaqa, who tragically passed away in a road accident in Perth, Western Australia, on Sunday. The 39-year-old, originally from Calia, Navua, had represented the district for many years before relocating to Australia for work on a farm.

Nawaqa was also known for his participation in the Secondary Schools competition, playing for Vashist Muni College. Navua President Rajeev Prasad praised Nawaqa as a talented footballer with a humble spirit and a friendly demeanor.

“He was cherished by everyone and was particularly close to the Indo-Fijian community in Calia. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Uncle Inoke Nawaqa and the entire family. May the Lord provide strength to those who are grieving. Sikeli will always be our hero from Navua. Rest peacefully in the Lord’s embrace,” he stated.

Nawaqa leaves behind his wife and four children, and funeral arrangements are currently being made.
