Nabua Secondary School Shines at Suva Zone Two Athletics!

Nabua Secondary School kicked off the day with a remarkable win at the Suva Zone Two athletics competition, securing the first gold medal in the sub-junior girls’ 1500 meters event thanks to athlete Salanieta Vakaloloma. Coach Winston Rounds expressed his enthusiasm, noting that this achievement serves as an excellent start for the school’s aspirations in the competition.

Rounds emphasized that their primary goal is not just about winning medals but successfully qualifying for the Fiji Finals scheduled for next month. “The main goal for the zone is to try to qualify for the zone. That’s the main goal, to qualify. I’m not really worried about positions; I just want them to qualify,” he stated.

Competing against well-established institutions like Marist Brothers High School and Suva Grammar School can be daunting, but Rounds encourages his athletes to embrace the challenge and enjoy the experience. He aims to nurture a positive spirit as they push to achieve their goals.

This positive trajectory aligns with the larger context of school athletics in Fiji, where various zones are promoting increased participation and competitive spirit. Recent reports have highlighted the educational sector’s commitment to fostering young talent, with schools rallying behind their athletes and creating an encouraging environment for excellence.

As the day progresses, Nabua Secondary School hopes to secure more medals, demonstrating the potential of its young athletes and contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the ongoing athletics events. The athletic season is bright with possibilities, foreshadowing a promising future for all participants involved.
