The Motibhai Group of Companies has recently been recognized as one of 36 companies in Fiji’s Western Division to receive a “Gold Card” from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS). This award was presented at a special ceremony held last Friday in Nadi, acknowledging corporate taxpayers who excel in tax compliance.
At the event, the Motibhai Group not only renewed its Gold Card but also saw its subsidiary, Victus Pte Ltd, which operates Burger King, awarded with a renewal for its Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) membership. Additionally, Motibhai and Company Ltd became a new AEO member, further solidifying its commitment to customs compliance.
Kirit Patel, the chairman of Motibhai Group, credited these achievements to the dedicated efforts of its staff. He stated that these milestones demonstrate the company’s commitment to fulfilling its civic duties, which ultimately contributes to vital public services and economic growth in Fiji. Patel emphasized that the Gold Card and AEO Program offer businesses priority services across multiple government sectors for those meeting compliance standards.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the 36 recognized companies contribute significantly to the nation, accounting for 57 percent of FRCS’s revenue. This collection has seen substantial growth, jumping from $882 million in 2021 to an impressive $1.67 billion in 2024.
A similar recognition event took place in Suva the previous Wednesday, where 58 companies received their Gold Card and AEO renewal membership certificates, highlighting a community commitment towards responsible taxation.
Overall, the Motibhai Group’s dedication to compliance and its proactive approach in the business sector set a commendable example for corporate responsibility in Fiji. As the company advances into 2025, it does so with confidence, aiming to further empower its employees and contribute positively to the economy.
In a broader context, such achievements reflect a growing trend of enhanced corporate accountability and engagement in Fiji, showcasing how businesses can significantly influence national prosperity through their civic responsibilities. This positive momentum inspires hope for sustainable development and the betterment of community welfare across the nation.
