Marist Brothers High School’s athletics coach, Antonio Raboiliku, is ensuring his athletes are primed and ready for the upcoming Fiji Finals by honing their speed on both track and grass surfaces. Raboiliku emphasizes that there will be no room for excuses when the competition kicks off, particularly with his team looking to defend their title.

As the reigning boys’ champions prepare for the highly anticipated event, Raboiliku believes that testing their speed on the track is essential in these final days leading up to the competition. He mentioned the importance of making the most out of available resources, stating, “We use the driveways in school, we have a new walkway now, and we use that as well. This way, our boys understand that even without proper facilities, they can still manage to train effectively.”

Despite their rigorous preparations, Raboiliku is mindful of the past performances in competitions where Marist Brothers has struggled to lead in the medal tally, particularly on the first day. He acknowledges the need for the team to step up their efforts this year to change that narrative.

The Fiji Finals is set to take place next Thursday at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, and fans will have the opportunity to catch the live coverage on FBC TV.

The drive shown by Raboiliku and his athletes illustrates a broader initiative within Fiji’s athletics scene, where schools are increasingly encouraging young talent and community involvement. The anticipation around the Fiji Finals is not just about competition, but also about fostering a spirit of camaraderie, growth, and sportsmanship among young athletes.

As the countdown continues, the community’s support will play a crucial role in energizing the athletes, highlighting a hopeful future for Marist Brothers High School athletics and the pride of the students representing their school.
