Three of the four inmates who escaped from the Suva Corrections Center last night have been captured after an extensive joint operation involving the Fiji Corrections Service and the Fiji Police Force. The apprehended individuals, Daniel Koroivuki and Selema Nasilivata, were taken into custody in Nakasi, while Emosi Rokovesi was found in Newtown, Khalsa Road.

The identified escapees were serving sentences for serious offenses, including aggravated robbery and assault. The authorities are continuing their search for Saula Luveitasau, who remains at large. The Fiji Corrections Service is collaborating closely with local law enforcement to ensure his prompt capture.

In light of this situation, the public is urged to report any information regarding Luveitasau’s whereabouts by calling the numbers 9905071 or 9905205, or visiting the nearest police station. It’s important to note that harboring a fugitive is a criminal offense, emphasizing the joint responsibility of communities and the police in maintaining safety and security.

This incident raises significant concerns about prison security and has reignited discussions regarding the effectiveness of correctional measures in Fiji, similar to previous escapes that have sparked public debate. The hope is that the ongoing efforts by authorities will not only lead to the capture of the final escapee but also initiate necessary reforms to enhance security within correctional facilities.

As the manhunt continues, community cooperation remains crucial, reinforcing the vital role that public vigilance plays in ensuring collective safety and security. This situation serves as a reminder of how collaborative efforts can effectively address and resolve challenges within the system.
