The Public Service Commission (PSC), in a collaborative effort with the Prime Minister, has announced a significant reshuffle involving three Permanent Secretaries, set to take effect on February 3, 2025. This move is aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities within key ministries and optimizing management within the public sector.

Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is currently the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, will transition to the role of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In her place, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, the current Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will step into the Office of the Prime Minister, while also taking on additional duties as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration, directly reporting to the Minister of Immigration.

Additionally, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, is expanding his responsibilities by serving as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing since January 14, 2025.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada emphasized that these changes are part of the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening leadership across vital ministries and ensuring effective management. This reshuffle not only addresses previous challenges of workload distribution but also aims to foster a more efficient and responsive public service framework.

These strategic transitions signify a proactive approach to refining governance and public service delivery in Fiji, showcasing trust in local talent and expertise for impactful leadership. By leveraging the skills of experienced professionals, the government indicates its intent to meet upcoming challenges with renewed energy and innovation. Overall, this reshuffle holds promise for improved governance and brighter prospects for public administration in the nation.
