Lelean Memorial School triumphed at this year’s inter-house competition held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, successfully defending their title. The event took place yesterday, where Varani House emerged as the overall champion with a remarkable haul of 29 gold, 39 silver, and 23 bronze medals.

Bulu House finished as runners-up, securing 28 gold, 17 silver, and 19 bronze medals. In third place was Mateinaniu House with 22 gold, 16 silver, and 23 bronze medals, while Naucukidi House rounded out the top four with 19 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze medals.

Following this successful event, Lelean Memorial School is now turning its attention to the upcoming Triple N Zone competition, scheduled for April 1-2, where they plan to field around 200 athletes. This preparation aligns with the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering athletic talent among its students.

Notably, the emphasis on inter-house competitions serves as a foundational experience for athletes, providing crucial training and exposure as they gear up for bigger challenges ahead. The school’s progress mirrors a broader trend in Fijian education, where increasing focus on athletics is evident, nurturing not just competition but also teamwork and personal development among young athletes.

The spirit of sportsmanship and community support shown during these events is commendable and reflects a positive trajectory for athletics in Fiji. With dedicated preparation and enthusiasm, there is great hope that Lelean Memorial School’s athletes will shine at the upcoming zone meet, paving the way for future successes in their sporting journeys.
