Legal Battle Looms: Fate of Former Officials’ Charges in Limbo

The Suva Magistrates Court will determine whether the charges against former Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum and former Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem will be consolidated. Both appeared in court today before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad, who scheduled a hearing for arguments from defense lawyer Devanesh Sharma and state lawyer Nancy Tikoisuva. Ms. Tikoisuva supports consolidating the charges, while Mr. Sharma opposes the application by the DPP. The hearing is set for August 6.
