Labasa Coach Ravneel Pratap has acknowledged that his team will enter the 2024 Flick Hygiene Pacific Community Cup in Lautoka with the reputation of underdogs. Despite recently clinching the Inter District Championship title, Pratap believes that the Babasiga Lions will lack experience compared to their rivals in Group B.
In a challenging pool, Pratap noted that their opponents include several powerhouses. He highlighted the USA All Stars, who boast professional players, and the Auckland All Stars, which comprises many current and former national team members. Additionally, Rewa has impressive credentials, having won the National League and participated in the OFC Champions League.
Pratap remains optimistic, stating that the team will put forth their best effort and aims to advance from this formidable group. He emphasized a positive mindset, encouraging players to compete not just for themselves, but for their dedicated supporters. He also called upon Labasa fans in the Western Division to come out in support of the team.
Adding to the team’s depth, the Labasa squad has welcomed Solomon Islands national representatives Atkin Kaua and Carlos Liomasia as guest players. Labasa will kick off the tournament with a match against the USA All Stars at 4:30 PM today.
In summary, while Labasa faces a steep challenge in the Pacific Community Cup, the team’s spirit and support from fans could foster an inspiring performance. This tournament represents not just a chance to compete but also an opportunity for growth and development, both on and off the pitch. With unwavering determination, the Labasa side could surprise opponents and demonstrate that experience is not the only measure of potential success.
