Pritesh Khatri claimed victory at the 2nd National Ranking tournament, organized by the Southern Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji, with a narrow win over Jitendra Prasad, finishing 4-3. The competition, held at the Merchants Club in Suva, showcased talents from 38 participants over three days.

Reflecting on his intense match against Prasad, who is ranked second in Fiji and set to represent the country at the upcoming Commonwealth Games, Khatri expressed gratitude for the victory, acknowledging the pressure he faced throughout the match. “I consider myself a bit lucky, as I was under pressure most of the time, but I managed to navigate through it,” Khatri stated.

He attributed his success to the support of the Southern division and their sponsors, particularly Goundar Dhaba, emphasizing that their backing was instrumental in his achievement. “This victory wouldn’t have been possible without the Southern division and the support from our sponsors,” he noted. Khatri, who has been passionate about snooker for over 20 years, dedicated his win to the members of the Merchants Club and his family.

Southern division president David Shiu Ratnam commended all players for their impressive displays during the tournament and recognized the contributions of their sponsors, making it clear that such events foster greater engagement in the sport across Fiji.

This thrilling tournament highlighted both established players and emerging talents, promising a bright future for snooker in the region. Khatri’s victory not only adds to his legacy but also inspires younger players, indicating that the snooker community in Fiji continues to grow and flourish.
