Kadavu Rugby’s Quest for Glory

TACKLE Kadavu is aiming for a quarter-final spot in the FMF Suva Rugby Union’s Escott Shield competition.

The team secured its third win in round six of the competition, defeating USP 23-3 at the USP grounds in Laucala Bay, Suva.

“Every week we remind the boys of the importance of putting in the hard work at training and being prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for whichever opponent we have to face,” head coach Ratu Nacani Turaganivalu said.

“We came into this match knowing USP really well given that we have had three scrimmage sessions with them. In all three sessions, we managed to beat them, but it didn’t take away the fact that we are playing to win, and complacency is never an option.”

With three wins and three losses, the remaining three games are crucial as the results will determine their place in the quarterfinals.

“To qualify for the top four, we must win all remaining matches and that is the only way up. This is our first season in the Escott Shield after 13 long years. We did the hard yards in the Koroturaga Shield last season and we must continue the momentum at the topflight.”

The team comprises players from Kadavu, Lau, Naitasiri, Ra, and Tailevu.
