The Public Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed a significant reshuffle of Permanent Secretaries effective February 3, 2025, aimed at enhancing leadership within key ministries. Dr. Raijeli Taga will transition from her current position as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Concurrently, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, the current Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will take over Dr. Taga’s role at the Office of the Prime Minister and will also serve as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration, reporting directly to the Minister of Immigration.

Additionally, Manasa Lesuma, who is already the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, will assume the responsibilities of Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing as of January 14, 2025.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada emphasized that these changes reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to optimize governance and ensure that ministries are managed by capable individuals. This restructuring is intended not only to streamline responsibilities but also to enable effective management within the public sector.

These changes resonate with the government’s focus on promoting local talent and placing skilled professionals in leadership roles, which is expected to enhance public service delivery and accountability. This reshuffle marks a hopeful step towards fostering innovation and effective governance within the Fijian administrative framework, reflecting a proactive approach to addressing the country’s evolving needs.

In summary, this reshuffle not only aims to strengthen the leadership framework of the government but also showcases a commitment to nurturing local expertise, signaling a promising direction for the future of Fiji’s governance.
