FSC Rugby Club’s head coach, Kemueli Namoho, attributed their triumph in the Ba Rugby Union Inox Trophy final to comprehensive preparation that included physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects, alongside dedicated support from families and fans. The team celebrated a 19-8 victory over Bukuya last Saturday at Vinod Patel Park, highlighting the crucial role of unity and faith in their success.
“We thank God for the win,” Namoho expressed, emphasizing their belief in a higher power as their source of strength. He showed gratitude towards the players, coaching staff, team management, and supporters who played an integral role in this achievement.
In the match, FSC was guided to victory by the skilled kicking of Sakeasi Koula, who scored four penalties and played a significant part in maintaining a lead of 6-3 at halftime before extending it in the second half. The atmosphere was electric as chants of “Sweet Rugby” filled the air, affirming the support from the stands. Although Bukuya managed to score a try, they missed the conversion, which ultimately contributed to their defeat.
The celebration of success at this level of rugby shows not just athletic talent but also the powerful influence of community and faith. This victory is a lovely reminder of the resilience and determination that define sports, particularly in the context of Fijian rugby culture. The achievement uplifts not only the players but also inspires younger teammates and aspiring athletes to believe in their potential.
In another notable tournament event, Nailaga narrowly defeated Toge 31-27 in a nail-biting Vinod Patel Cup final, further showcasing the competitive spirit of rugby in the region. Such thrilling matches reinforce the very essence of sportsmanship and community engagement, fostering a sense of hope and ambition among players and fans alike.
