The SportsWorld Fiji Under-20 rugby team is gearing up for the Oceania U20 Rugby Championship, which kicks off in Prince Charles Park, Nadi. With the introduction of 13 overseas players from countries like New Zealand, Australia, the USA, and France, the team is undergoing rigorous training to ensure they are in top shape for the tournament.
Team manager, Nemani Tuifagalele, voiced his optimism about the squad’s fitness and preparedness after their second week of training at Albert Park, stating, “The boys from overseas are really prepared physically, and they are just ready to take on the field.” Tuifagalele also expressed enthusiasm for the talent among the seven local secondary school students in the team, noting their impressive ability to step up to the U20 level.
As the team prepares for challenging matches against notable opponents such as Samoa and Tonga, Tuifagalele emphasized the significance of the experience the overseas players bring to the squad, enhancing both skill and dynamism. The first match is scheduled for next Tuesday against Tonga, followed by games against Canada and Samoa.
