Maryann Macedru, a talented shot put athlete from Saint Joseph’s Secondary School, has made a remarkable impact on the athletics scene by breaking a national record at the 2025 Easter Athletics National Championships. Her outstanding throw of 14.74 meters not only secured her the title in the Open Women’s Shot Put category but also shattered the previous record set by Milika Tuivanuavou, who was competing alongside her during the event.

Macedru’s achievements don’t stop there. Following her record-breaking performance, she also claimed victory at the Fiji Finals with a new personal best throw of 14.44 meters in the Intermediate Girls Shot Put. This impressive feat underscores her dedication and skill in the sport, emphasizing her potential as a rising star in athletics.
