Fiji’s Future Rugby Stars Shine in Thrilling School League Showdown

Exciting matches took place on Saturday during the second round of the 2025 Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League zone competitions held at the Saint Marcellin school grounds. Teams showcased impressive skill and determination, reflecting the growing talent of young rugby players in Fiji.

In the under-19 category, Queen Victoria School secured an 18-10 victory against Lami High School, while Assemblies of God narrowly defeated Bua Secondary with a score of 22-18. Lomary Secondary School had a strong showing, achieving a close 9-4 win over Lelean and an impressive 24-14 victory against Nuku Secondary School. Additionally, Naitasiri triumphed with an 18-8 win over Nabua.

Standout performances were seen in the U17 division, with Lelean Memorial School dominating Nabua Secondary with a staggering 42-0 win. Dudley High also excelled, overcoming Assemblies of God 38-0, and Nasinu put forward a remarkable performance with a 40-2 win against Rewa.

The U15 category saw thrilling action, highlighted by Lami High’s 28-8 victory over Kalabu and Nasinu’s 16-2 win against SVC. A noteworthy match ended in a draw when Assemblies of God and RSMS contested to a 22-22 tie, while Marist edged past Sila Central High School with a score of 16-8.

These matches not only showcased the immense talent of Fiji’s youth rugby players but also ignited a sense of community pride and excitement. As the season progresses, the anticipation builds for future games, where young athletes have the opportunity to shine, develop their skills, and possibly secure a pathway to professional rugby.
