The Ministry of Agriculture is actively engaging in market demand assessments at the district level and is conducting consultations to keep farmers informed about market requirements. Minister Vatimi Rayalu emphasized the ministry’s commitment to facilitating effective market access for farmers while ensuring they receive the necessary support for their products.

Rayalu noted the critical need for improved infrastructure, stating, “While we have the main roads, that is not good enough. We need farm roads to connect the main road to the farms to address the market access issue.” To this end, the Ministry plans to construct and upgrade 40 km of farm roads this year, thereby improving transportation access for farmers to deliver their goods to market.
This focus on enhancing farm infrastructure aligns with previous concerns raised about deteriorating agricultural roads, such as Natakea Road, which is vital for transporting crops to local markets.
