Digicel Fiji Bula Boys and Navua attacker Thomas Dunn is set to depart Fiji this Sunday to attend trials with A-League club Sydney FC.
If successful, the 21-year-old could become the second Fijian international to secure an A-League contract, following in the footsteps of Roy Krishna.
Team manager Kartik Reddy highlighted the significance of Dunn’s opportunity, stating, “He will be attending training sessions and playing in friendly matches during his stay with the club from July 8 to 19.”
Reddy commended Dunn’s rise as an outstanding football talent, noting, “His remarkable journey, both on and off the field, has captivated fans and earned him recognition for the trials with the Australian professional soccer club based in Sydney, New South Wales.”
The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) will support Dunn throughout his trials.
“Fiji FA is assisting Dunn in terms of his welfare during his stay with the club,” said Fiji FA. “We are thankful to our affiliate partners in Australia AUFFI and Fiji FA Liaison in Australia, Mr. Nick Sharma, for agreeing to provide necessary support to the player while in Sydney for the trials.”
Dunn began representing Navua at the age of 15 and has continued to excel from there. In addition to his contributions to the Senior National Men’s team, he has also played for the Fiji U16, U17, U20, and U23 teams. His international experience includes a year in Melbourne on a student visa, where he played for several domestic clubs.
