The 2024 Corona Fiji Pro was inaugurated today by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere. The President extended his greetings to the 12 women and 24 men competitors hailing from 12 different countries, wishing them success in the event. He commended the organizers for their hard work, dedication, and investment in bringing the World Tour Competition to Fiji.
“Surfing, like any other sport, is fueled by passion. Over the next few days, we will not only witness impressive athleticism and grace but also celebrate a sport that represents the pure joy of riding the waves and the profound bond between humanity and nature,” President Katonivere stated.
He also congratulated Fiji’s wildcard competitor, Tevita Gukilau, expressing hope that more local talents will eventually have the chance to compete alongside international athletes.
