Weather Update
Good morning, Fiji! It’s Sunday, February 22, 2026, and it looks like Mother Nature has thrown a cozy blanket of clouds over our beautiful islands, with a side of showers to keep things interesting.
Currently, we’re under the spell of some breezy south-southeast winds, while a lazy trough of low pressure hangs out in the southern parts. That means it’s likely to be a bit wet down south and on the eastern side of the country—hold onto your umbrellas, folks!
As we head into tonight, expect cloud cover to remain with some stubborn showers and the occasional thunderstorm crashing the party, particularly over Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti. And just like a surprise party, these thunderstorms might bring some heavy rain as well! For those in Sigatoka, Coral Coast, Serua-Namosi, and the like, brief showers will also be slipping in, with a tease of sunshine in between.
Now, let’s not neglect Viti Levu and Vanua Levu; those areas might just see some afternoon or evening thunderstorm magic as well. The winds will prance around moderately, while seas are expected to be just as moderate—so no wild waves today!
Looking ahead to Monday, the weather seems to have a plan of occasional showers and some more thunderstorms, especially up north in Bua and Macuata. Expect that shy sunshine to make an appearance briefly, but don’t get too comfortable; the clouds are lurking just around the corner.
In Navua, Suva, and Nausori, it sounds like a repeat of today with cloudy periods and potentially dramatic thunderstorms for some added flair. The temperatures will flirt around 25°C to 32°C, providing a comfortable but humid day.
For all those adventure seekers in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, there’s a similar forecast: some fine weather with a chance of those pesky thunderstorms. But don’t worry too much; it sounds like a “find a nice spot and enjoy the view” kind of day.
So, whether you’re lounging on the beach with a good book or prepping your rain dance routine, make sure to stay tuned for the weather updates because this week is bound to keep you on your toes!
