Weather Update from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi
As of 3:30 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025
Buckle up, folks! We’ve got an east to southeast wind flow sweeping through Fiji like a friendly neighbor bringing over a plate of hot cookies—warm and not too pushy. However, a sneaky little trough is lurking up north, bringing clouds and showers from tomorrow until Monday, so it looks like our skies might get a bit moody.
Here’s what to expect until the clock strikes midnight tomorrow across our beloved Fiji:
Imagine some cloudy periods with a sprinkle of showers over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and the lovely smaller islands nearby—that’s right, Lau and Lomaiviti! And from tomorrow onwards, you might want to grab your umbrella because occasional showers with some sneaky heavy falls will be crashing the party.
The rest of the islands will be shining fine, unless you’re out and about in the afternoons or evenings where a few isolated showers might decide to drop by unannounced.
Hold on tight—moderate east to southeast winds are rolling in, fresh at times, and those waves in the seas might just want a little roughhousing!
Looking ahead to Saturday, expect those occasional showers to continue their takeover—isolated heavy falls will be dancing over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and yes, those charming small islands like Lau and Lomaiviti. Elsewhere, it will be a mix of clouds creeping in with some showers, especially in the afternoons and evenings. Don’t forget the nights might get a bit chilly, so a light jacket would be a wise idea!
Specific forecasts are as follows:
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Cloudy periods with showers making an appearance. And yes, occasional showers with heavy falls are back in stock starting tomorrow.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Fine until those pesky isolated afternoon or evening showers show up. Saturday looks cloudy with those late afternoon surprises.
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Mostly fine, sneaky afternoon or evening showers ahead. Saturday may feature some cloud cover and those delightful shower visits again, especially in the afternoon.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Fine weather with a chance of isolated afternoon or evening showers. Saturday, you guessed it—cloudy with some showers.
For Natadradave/Korovou: Expect cloudy periods with some showers and those occasional heavy falls starting tomorrow. Saturday will surely keep the rainy theme going!
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Enjoy the fine weather, but keep an eye out for brief showers. Saturday will bring clouds and shower activity as well.
For Labasa: Fine weather holding strong until late afternoon or evening showers drop by. Saturday’s forecast: cloudy with some showers too.
For Savusavu: Get ready for cloudy periods and those pesky occasional showers that are set to make a visit!
For Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Cloudy with showers coming in and those heavy falls will be making their social appearance as well.
For Rotuma: The low-pressure trough lingers, bringing along occasional showers and a few spontaneous thunderstorms. Hold onto your hats—moderate to rough seas are in town!
So, there you have it! Mother Nature has her plans all laid out—just make sure to have your umbrellas and surfboards ready.
