Weather Update – Bring on the Showers!
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 4:07 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026.
Well folks, it seems like the weather gods are feeling a bit moody today! A weak trough of low pressure is hovering over the southern parts of Fiji, throwing clouds and showers around like confetti at a party. Meanwhile, we’ve got a southeast to southwest wind flow doing its best impression of an indecisive friend. And hold onto your umbrellas—another more active trough is making its way from the north and is expected to shake things up over the northern parts of the group starting Wednesday.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for Fiji:
Expect some cloudy periods filled with showers and the occasional thunderstorm trying to steal the spotlight over Kadavu and nearby small islands, Lomaiviti, Southern Lau group, and Cikobia. The rest will enjoy mainly sunny skies with just a few afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms popping up like uninvited guests. And watch out—those afternoon downpours could lead to flash flooding in areas that are more prone to soaking.
Winds will be moderate, blowing southeast to southwest, perfect for drying off after the rain. Seas? Moderately mellow, but don’t hesitate to bring your floaties just in case!
Outlook for Wednesday:
More clouds! Yay! Expect brief showers over the lovely Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove, and the charming southern Bua province, Taveuni, and their adorable smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Elsewhere, it’s looking fine with just a few sprinkled showers and thunderstorms. Flash flooding could also rain on the parade of low-lying areas.
For those specific locations:
– **Navua/Suva/Nausori:** Cloudy with some showers and afternoon thunderstorms to add a little drama. Min: 24, Max: 31.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** Mainly fine, but don’t drop your guard; afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms may pop up. Min: 24, Max: 32.
– **Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:** Looking mostly sunny, just a couple of showers. Min: 24, Max: 33.
