Weather Alert: Buckle Up, Fiji!

This is your not-so-fun yet essential weather roundup brought to you straight from our crystal ball at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi. As of 3:30 PM on this fine Saturday, February 7th, 2026, we’ve got a heavy rain alert for the entire Fiji group. Yes, folks, it’s about to rain cats and dogs, so make sure your umbrellas are not just decorative pieces!

We’re also throwing in a flash flood alert for the whole of Fiji. Yes, that’s right! It’s time to channel your inner fish and swim safely! More deets can be found in our special weather bulletins online, but do remember—don’t get too carried away and float away!

Our flooding friends over at Nakauvandra River in Rakiraki, Naseani at Yaqara River, and Tavua at Tavua Town Bridge, you’ll want to grab your floaties! A flood warning remains in effect for all low-lying areas.

Now, on to the weather situation: A slow-moving trough of low pressure is parked just southwest of Fiji, and it seems it’s in no rush to leave. Expect an abundance of rain and the occasional thunderstorm – yes, the kind that threatens to rain on your parade. Most parts of the country will see this delightful weather until tomorrow.

Forecast until midnight: Get ready for occasional rain and maybe a few uninvited thunderstorms which might just drop a lot of moisture. Ultimately, rain will ease off into a more polite shower by late night in the Northern Division and by tomorrow for the rest of us. Those persistent downpours could lead to flash flooding, so please keep the rubber duckies handy!

Winds are putting in an appearance too. Expect moderate to fresh north to northeast breezes, with gusts that may come as a surprise (much like your neighbor’s karaoke nights). The seas are moderate to rough, so if you had plans to sail, you might want to reconsider unless you enjoy an impromptu ocean ride!

Looking forward to Monday? Prepare for partly cloudy skies with some showers in the eastern and interior parts of the larger islands, and some fine weather on the other side of town aside from the afternoon or evening showers. Beware of those localized downpours that could also lead to flash flooding – because why not double up on the weather drama?

Now, let’s zoom in on some local areas:

– **Navua / Suva / Nausori**: A mix of rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls. Rain will start to ease to showers tomorrow. Expect a minimum of 24°C and a toasty maximum of 32°C.
– **For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: Same the deal as above, but with a charming hint of sunshine mixed in tomorrow.
– **Yasawa / Mamanuca group**: Occasional rain with potential for some heavy dark magic from the sky – just be careful of those waterlogged shoes!

As the patterns repeat across the board, grab your raincoats, embrace your inner mermaid, and remember: Tomorrow might just be a bit wet, but next week, there might be ice cream in the forecast! Stay dry and keep smiling, Fiji!
