The Tourism Fiji Board has named Dr. Paresh Pant as its new Chief Executive Officer, following an extensive global search. Dr. Pant, a seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, and aviation across Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand, is set to begin his tenure in mid-October 2025.
Dr. Pant returns to Tourism Fiji bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, having previously served in senior roles such as the Regional Director for New Zealand and Australia. During his previous tenure, he was instrumental in promoting visitor growth and steering recovery initiatives during challenging times. This experience positions him well to lead Tourism Fiji as it seeks to strengthen its global brand and foster sustainable growth.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, expressed support for Dr. Pant’s appointment, highlighting its timing as crucial for the industry. He emphasized the need for strategic leadership to ensure long-term growth, which Dr. Pant is expected to provide.
Dr. Pant is academically accomplished, holding a PhD in Tourism Strategy and Aviation Management from Griffith University in Australia and postgraduate qualifications in commerce and marketing from top New Zealand institutions. Dr. Pant expressed his honor at the appointment, acknowledging the pivotal role tourism plays in Fiji’s economy and identity. He reiterated his commitment to sustainable growth, benefitting local communities and global partners alike.
This leadership transition comes following the departure of former CEO Brent Hill, whose influential tenure was marked by significant visitor growth and innovative campaigns such as “Where Happiness Comes Naturally.” Under Hill, Tourism Fiji achieved record-breaking visitor numbers and championed sustainability and community-driven initiatives.
As Dr. Pant takes on the role, there is a palpable sense of optimism about the future of Fiji’s tourism industry. With a strategic focus on sustainability, community engagement, and global brand enhancement, this new chapter holds promise for the continued elevation of Fiji as a preferred travel destination.
