The Fiji Police Boxing Team emerged victorious at the Vodafone Sukuna Bowl Boxing Challenge held at LICI Courts in Laucala Bay today. They showcased their dominance by winning in five out of nine final categories.
Petero Vunivalu stood out by claiming gold in the 60-63kg division, overcoming Emosi Vucago. He further solidified his reputation by securing another gold medal in the 63.5-67kg division, decisively defeating the Army’s Meli Cabebula by unanimous points decision.
The Police team continued their success with Josaia Veiqaravi defeating Army’s Isikeli Rogoyawa in the 67-71kg division, and Vilimoni Naivaluwaqa impressively knocked out Meli Naumi of the Army during the same weight category. Victor Rova added to the Police tally, winning a points decision over fellow officer Nemani Tuinalolo.
On the Army’s side, they claimed gold in the 57-60kg category where Keleto Tawake triumphed over Rusiate Qalo, and Aminiasi Saratibau also took gold in the 75-80kg weight class, winning against Naibuka Kumuiwalu. The Army’s Samuela Naqiri and Sakiusa Narara also secured victories in their respective matches.
The event truly highlighted the competitive spirit and talent within the boxing community in Fiji, setting a hopeful tone for future challenges and fostering camaraderie among the teams.
