The Business Assistant Fiji has introduced the Fiji Agriculture Innovate Competition, providing an opportunity for three of the nation’s most inventive farmers to win $5,000 in cash, along with a fully funded spot at the upcoming 2026 MSMEs Conference. This initiative is designed to spotlight high-potential agribusinesses, promote innovative products, and encourage sustainable practices within the sector.
Launched yesterday, the application process for the competition will remain open until January 14, 2026. From the applications received, 20 participants will be selected to take part in virtual boot camps and mentorship sessions, aimed at refining and enhancing their agricultural initiatives.
In addition to the cash reward, the winning participant will also gain an all-expenses-paid opportunity to showcase their product at the MSMEs Conference, which is expected to draw over 300 attendees, including potential investors.
Agriculture Minister Tomasi Tunabuna highlighted that the launch of this competition represents a significant advance in developing Fiji’s agricultural innovation landscape. He stated, “The Agri Innovate Competition 2025 is an important step in our shared mission to empower agri-preneurs, strengthen domestic agri-food systems, and build a resilient agriculture sector.”
Tunabuna emphasized that the competition aligns with the government’s strategy to modernize agriculture, enhance domestic production, minimize imports, and support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He encouraged farmers to participate actively and seize this opportunity to establish themselves in the agribusiness sector, fostering a brighter future for agriculture in Fiji.
