Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya, has officially taken on the role of non-resident Ambassador to the State of Kuwait. The formal presentation of his Letters of Credence to Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, marks a significant milestone in enhancing the diplomatic, economic, and developmental relationships between the two nations.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Koya delivered greetings on behalf of Fiji’s President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, as well as the Fijian public. He emphasized Fiji’s commitment to expanding labor mobility for Fijian workers within the region, specifically targeting sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, security services, and technical trades.
Ambassador Koya expressed Fiji’s eagerness to collaborate with Kuwait in various key areas, including trade, investment, tourism, climate-resilient infrastructure, agriculture, and clean energy initiatives. He highlighted the importance of forging partnerships with both public and private sectors to achieve these goals.
Moreover, Ambassador Koya recognized the efforts of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and conveyed Fiji’s enthusiasm for potential future collaborations. This development is anticipated to foster a robust partnership that brings mutual benefits to both Fiji and Kuwait, paving the way for shared opportunities in various industries.
