Weather Update
Hold on to your umbrellas, folks! The weather wizards from the National Weather Forecasting Centre have declared a HEAVY RAIN ALERT for the entire Fiji group. So, if you thought you could pull off a lovely day out without the risk of becoming a human sponge, think again!
And it gets better—or worse, depending on your love for wet shoes—because there’s also a FLASH FLOOD ALERT in effect. Yes, that’s right! You might want to start building an ark if you’re in a low-lying area. For all the juicy details, swim over to the National Weather Forecasting Center’s website.
Moreover, if you live near the Nakauvandra River, Naseani at Yaqara River, or Tavua at the Tavua Town Bridge, keep those waders handy because a FLOOD WARNING is still active for all nearby flood-prone areas. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
What’s brewing behind those ominous clouds, you ask? A lazy trough of low pressure is hanging out just southwest of the Fiji group, making sure to drench most of us with occasional rain and a few surprise thunderstorms. Expect some heavy falls throughout the day, because who doesn’t enjoy a spontaneous shower?
For the forecast until midnight tomorrow, brace yourself for a rain extravaganza: occasional showers with an encore of thunderstorms. (Just when you thought you could put your raincoat away!) The rain will ease up to mere showers over the Northern Division later tonight, and the rest of the group by Sunday—so there’s hope for sunshine, folks!
Keep an eye on those skies, though. Persistent heavy rain could leave puddles bigger than your takeaway bowl and spark flash flooding in low-lying areas. Winds in town will switch from a playful north-northeast to a somewhat serious northeasterly by tomorrow.
Now let’s discuss the seas! They’ll be moderate to rough—so if you’re planning a romantic boat ride, maybe think of waiting until the romance factor in the weather improves.
