Weather Alert Update

Attention, fellow Fijians! Grab your umbrellas and galoshes because the weather gods have decided it’s a great day for a downpour! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is on for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and their diminutive island friends, the Central and Northern Lau Group. But wait, there’s more! Yasawa, Mamanuca, as well as the western and northern parts of Viti Levu (we’re looking at you Nadi-Lautoka and Ra-Rakiraki) are now in the soggy spotlight too.
Why is this happening, you ask? Blame it on a persistent trough of low pressure hanging over the northern Division, which is just drifting southward, likely on a leisurely vacation, and is expected to hightail it out of here by Saturday.
**Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fijian archipelago:**
Today: Expect your routine of occasional rain with a dash of thunderstorm excitement! Heavy rain alerts are in place for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and those cheeky smaller islands, as well as Lau and Lomaiviti. Take cover, Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, and Navua-Suva-Nasinu-Korovou—you’ll be getting some shower love too! Showers later today might have their party hats on, especially with isolated thunderstorms making an appearance. And watch out for flash flooding in low-lying areas; Mother Nature can get a little moody.
Tomorrow: The rain continues its relationship with rough skies! Keep your raincoat handy for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and those other tropical islands. They’ll be dealing with rain and thunderstorms like an old couple who can’t stop arguing! Expect the showers to mingle with the afternoon/evening thunderstorms.
**Your local weather scoop per region:**
**Navua/Suva/Nausori:** Showers are on the table. Expect occasional thunderstorm visits later. Max: 33
**Natadradave/Korovou:** More rain coming your way, folks. Keep that umbrella at hand! Max: 33
**Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** Showers with a pleasant sprinkle of thunderstorms. What more could you ask for? Max: 35
**Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:** Enjoy a mainly fine day, but be prepared for some evening fun with those thunderstorms. Max: 34
**Tavua/Rakiraki:** Weather smiling in the fine department, but evening showers may crash the party. Max: 35
**Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** Think fine weather, only to be interrupted by a sprinkle of rain later. Max: 34
**And for our friends in Rotuma:** A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still on, with heavy rain and some thunder making things interesting! Max: 31
For Saturday, expect a continuation of this tropical trend—a mix of rain and thunderstorms across the islands, still with a chance of surprises! Keep those raincoats handy, and let’s hope for a break in the clouds soon. Stay dry, and remember: every cloud has a silver lining—just sometimes, that lining’s soaked!
