The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji has issued an important update for Fijian citizens residing in the United Arab Emirates, other Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and across the Middle East and North Africa regarding the resumption of scheduled flights. The communication highlights that UAE authorities have successfully facilitated around 60 flights via Dubai International Airport, which have collectively transported over 17,000 passengers so far.

Looking ahead, the Embassy anticipates the operation of more than 80 additional scheduled flights, with plans to accommodate an estimated 27,000 passengers. This development is a significant boost for Fijians in the region seeking to travel.

Fijian nationals holding existing bookings have been advised that airlines will reach out to confirmed passengers directly through the contact information provided at the time of booking. It is crucial for passengers to only head to the airport if they receive official notification from their airline. Those who have not been contacted are strongly urged to refrain from traveling to the airport to avoid any unnecessary inconveniences.

Furthermore, the Embassy has clarified that all inquiries regarding travel confirmations, changes, and additional information should be directed to the respective airlines. Officials remain vigilant, continuously monitoring the situation to ensure that Fijian citizens receive timely and accurate updates.

To further support its nationals, the Embassy encourages Fijians to join the Consular WhatsApp group for ongoing official updates and safety advisories. This initiative aims to strengthen communication and ensure that Fijians in the region stay well-informed during this time.
