Fiji concluded its journey in the HSBC Cape Town Sevens tournament by securing third place, decisively defeating Spain with a score of 47-10 in the bronze medal playoff. The team, coached by Osea Kolinisau, narrowly missed a spot in the gold medal final after a close match against France, which ended with a score of 19-17.

In the playoff for third place, Fiji demonstrated their dominance, scoring seven tries and taking advantage of opportunities while capitalizing on Spain’s unforced mistakes. Players Joji Nasova, Filipe Sauturaga, Jeremaia Matana, George Bose, Terio Veilawa, Kavekini Tanivanuakula, and Vuiviwa Naduvalo each contributed a try, reflecting the team’s collective effort. Sauturaga and Veilawa were particularly notable, each converting two tries, alongside one conversion kick each from Nasova and Teba.

Spain managed to put two tries on the board, courtesy of Jeremy Trevithick, but it was not enough to challenge Fiji’s impressive performance.

This strong finish for Fiji serves as a testament to their resilience and skill, suggesting a bright future as they continue to refine their game. The combination of individual talents and teamwork displayed indicates that Fiji remains a formidable force in the Sevens circuit. Fans can look forward to their continued growth and competitiveness in future tournaments.
