The eagerly awaited finals of the Suva Zone Two athletics competition are underway today, featuring athletes from 14 schools competing in thrilling events such as the 800 meters, 200 meters, 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Savenaca Muamua, the vice-president of the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association Central, expressed gratitude for the two-day format of the competition. “We’re really glad that we’re allowed to have two full days, which is good for the athletes,” he stated, highlighting the importance of rest between events.

Muamua noted that this aspect brings an additional layer of pressure to the athletes, who aim to perform their best in front of an audience.

Suva Grammar School followed in second place with 7 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze medals, while Jai Narayan College took third with one gold. The ongoing competitions aid in creating a community that values perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship, forging a hopeful future for athletics in Fiji.
