The youth of Uluiloli Village in Tailevu were presented with brush cutters from the government, marking a significant step towards empowering young entrepreneurs in rural areas. This initiative is a part of government efforts to support youth involvement in business and create opportunities for income generation. The youths involved have been contracted by the China Railway Group to provide grass-cutting services in the Rewa Division, where they reportedly earn more than $4,000 every fortnight.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Sakiasi Ditoka, emphasized that providing these additional tools will enhance the ability of young people to expand their businesses. “This is real empowerment, supporting youth entrepreneurship and fostering economic resilience in our rural communities,” he stated.
This initiative aligns with broader government initiatives aimed at promoting entrepreneurship in rural areas, similar to the recent assistance provided to a sub-clan in Nadi, where the government delivered a new excavator to Tokatoka Namara Development Pte Ltd. This support is intended to alleviate financial pressures and enhance productivity for local enterprises, showcasing the government’s commitment to enabling rural development and economic growth.
By equipping the youth of Uluiloli Village with the necessary tools, the government is not only empowering them to thrive economically but is also investing in the future of rural communities. Such efforts are essential for building sustainable local economies and enhancing the livelihoods of residents.
The combination of these initiatives illustrates a promising trend in government support for rural entrepreneurship, fostering financial independence and community resiliency in Fiji.
This positive approach will not only improve individual circumstances but also contribute significantly to the overall economic fabric of rural Fiji, instilling hope for a prosperous future among young entrepreneurs.
