The Women Invigorating the Nation Convention 2025 is poised to serve as a significant platform for advocacy and awareness focused on women’s issues. Scheduled for March 28-29 at the Grand Pacific Hotel, the convention aims to unite women from various backgrounds to address pivotal social and health topics, inclusivity, and empower future generations.
The event will feature a lineup of influential speakers, including women in governance, policymakers, activists, business leaders, and representatives from the aviation sector and law enforcement. Sharyne Fong, chairperson of WIN, stated that the discourse at this year’s convention will be informed by key recommendations stemming from an International Labour Organization (ILO) survey and discussions from last year’s event, aiming to instate national policies that support various women’s rights initiatives.
The convention theme, “Championing Inclusivity, Blazing New Trails for the Future,” will drive conversations around workplace equality, enabling inclusive opportunities, and advocating for policies that benefit both unpaid caregivers and working women. Tied to this mission is the introduction of the Green Star Awards, sponsored by the British High Commission, which invites women delegates to apply for recognition in various categories, with a vision to expand these awards in upcoming years to highlight Sustainable Business Excellence.
This convention builds on recent events, such as the significant International Women’s Day celebrations at the Grand Pacific Hotel, which emphasized the importance of resilience, mentorship, and community action in promoting gender equality. The enthusiastic turnout highlighted a collective commitment to empowering women and advocating for their rights across multiple sectors.
Furthermore, this year’s initiatives follow a series of successful gatherings focused on women’s empowerment, notably the Fiji National Women’s Expo, which showcased the tremendous contributions of women, demonstrating that when women are provided with opportunities, they can drive meaningful progress in their communities.
These collective efforts reflect a growing tide of support for women’s rights, and the upcoming convention is seen as a beacon of hope for fostering an inclusive atmosphere for dialogue, networking, and policy advocacy. The future looks bright as the community moves towards establishing a more equitable environment for women to thrive and lead.
