Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s captain, Tevita Ikanivere, expressed his disappointment following the team’s continued struggle to secure a victory in the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, with a recent loss against the Waratahs marking their third consecutive defeat. Despite showing resilience and being competitive throughout their matches against the Brumbies, Hurricanes, and now the Waratahs, the Drua have repeatedly faltered in the closing minutes, which has been tough for the team to digest.

“We’ve been there for the whole game and just give it away in the last five minutes,” Ikanivere noted, stressing the need for improvement moving forward. Head Coach Glen Jackson acknowledged the hard work of the players but also understood that while each match is important, it was not a must-win scenario against the Waratahs.

In their latest match, the Drua initially took the lead with an early try from Ponipate Loganimasi, reflecting their competitive spirit. However, after oscillating between leads, they ultimately succumbed to a penalty try awarded to the Waratahs in the final moments of the game, akin to their previous matches where similar late-game mistakes cost them crucial points.

Despite these setbacks, there are bright spots for the Drua. The emergence of young talents like Loganimasi showcases their potential for growth, and the support from passionate fans remains unwavering. With upcoming matches on the horizon, the team remains hopeful that they can convert their promising performances into victories. Fans are encouraged to rally behind the Drua as they work to build momentum, aiming for a stronger showing in future fixtures.

As they reflect on their experiences so far, the Drua’s resilience is evident, and with continued improvement and discipline, they are on a hopeful path towards success in the remainder of the season.
