EXTRA Bula FC head coach Stéphane Auvray is feeling optimistic about his team’s development as they gear up for the third round of the OFC Pro League in Melbourne. Despite finishing the second round with a draw and a loss, Auvray believes that the team’s progress has put them on the right track to meet the league’s challenges.

Reflecting on their recent performances, Auvray noted that the team has been working diligently, focusing on their fitness and defensive structure, which has shown through their disciplined gameplay. “I will not say tactical adjustment, but I would say a progression; we’ve been working by cycles,” he explained.

Auvray also highlighted improvements in their attacking play, particularly when in possession of the ball. “Even though we were unfortunate not to get the three points against Tahiti or Melbourne, it showed that we have good control of the game,” he commented, indicating a positive trend in their performance despite the results.

However, he admits there are areas that still need enhancement, especially in the final third where they need to efficiently disrupt the opposition and capitalize on their attacking opportunities. As they approach the next phase of the competition, recovery will be essential, considering the demanding schedule with four games in quick succession, allowing only two days for recovery between matches.

The team’s first match of the third round is set for this Sunday against Vanuatu United FC, kicking off at 2:00 PM. With the full squad ready to hit the field, Auvray and his team are aiming to translate their training and preparation into positive results. The combination of discipline and strategic play offers a hopeful outlook for Bula FC’s upcoming matches in the league.
