Netball Australia, in collaboration with the Australian Government via PacificAus Sports, is set to unveil an exciting new tournament for Pacific Island nations, scheduled for late next year. Dubbed the PacificAus Sports Netball Challenge, this tournament represents a significant development for netball in the Pacific region, as it will be the first national competition tailored specifically for players based in the Pacific.
RubyAnn Sorovaki, president of Netball Fiji, expressed optimism about the event, highlighting how it will provide athletes with more opportunities to accumulate valuable game experience. “With a high percentage of our athletes being locally based, a competition like this lifts opportunity for a wider cross section of athletes to participate both in our pathway and become possible squad members,” she stated.
The PacificAus Sports Netball Challenge will take place from November 23 to 28 at Nissan Arena in Brisbane. This initiative symbolizes a promising advancement in the sport, fostering local talent and enhancing the competitive landscape for netball in the region.
